Beginners and more experienced kayakers are welcome – for the nature lover, the scenery’s the point, not the sweat! Get really wild at Lake Arenal, the centre of adventure sports like paddle-boarding, then cruise through the canals of Tortuguero in search of monkeys and sloths. Dec. 8: Arrive in San José

Dec. 9: San José Free time. Welcome meeting 6pm.

Dec. 10: San José/La Fortuna Travel from San José to La Fortuna, and opt to swim at a local swimming hole at the base of a waterfall during free time in the afternoon.

Dec.11: La Fortuna Take to the water and enjoy an included combo kayaking and stand-up paddle board session on Lake Arenal. Enjoy a free afternoon, and opt to go rafting, waterfall rappelling, or take a dip in therapeutic hot springs.

Dec.12: La Fortuna Enjoy a free day for adrenaline-fueled optionals such as the Cerro Chato extreme hike, whitewater rafting on Class III and IV rapids, waterfall rappelling or mountain biking. Or take it easy with some bird watching in Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge by boat or a massage in town.

Dec.13: La Fortuna/Sarapiquí Travel to Sarapiquí and to the tranquil Cuarto River. Hop into kayaks and cruise downstream. The calm waters are perfect for birdwatching and wildlife spotting in the forest canopy.

Dec.14: Sarapiquí/Tortuguero Travel east towards the Caribbean coast, then transfer to a boat and motor through canals to arrive in Tortuguero at the jungle-lined coast of Costa Rica. After arrival, enjoy a guided visit to the town of Tortuguero.

Dec.15: Tortuguero Enjoy an included guided kayaking excursions this morning, followed by free time in the afternoon. Opt for a nighttime excursion to look for nesting sea turtles laying eggs when it is turtle season.

Dec.16: Tortuguero/San José Return to San José for an optional final night out with the group.

San Jose

Costa Rica’s largest city and cultural center. It is one of the safest cities in Latin America and serves as a transportation hub. You will find colonial mansions that have been converted into boutique hotels, art galleries and restaurants. It is also home to many parks, museums and theaters.




La Fortuna

A small town, northwest of San Jose. This is a spot for adventure and the gateway to the Arenal Volcano National Park and one of the most visited towns in Costa Rica. The town itself is centered around a colorful garden park and a church and contains many shops, restaurants, tour operators and hotels. You can enjoy activities such as hiking, mountain biking, swimming, white water rafting, horseback riding and canyoning, just to name a few.




One of the most beautiful locations in Costa Rica. Surrounded by lush green forests and banana plantations. The area has several protected zones such as Braulio Carrillo National Park and La Selva Biological Station. This area is popular river activities, everything from class I through IV white water rapids to more relaxing boat excursions that allow you to spot caiman, sloths, monkeys and even crocodiles!




The land of turtles with a laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Protected by the Tortuguero National Park, this village is accessed by boat only. The main attraction here is turtle nesting, which typically takes place from July to October for the Green Sea and Hawksbill turtles and February to April for the leatherbacks. You will find lots of wildlife spotting opportunities here that include monkeys, birdwatching and crocodile’s.

* Cancellation 60 days or more prior to departure = Loss of deposit
* Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to departure = 50% loss
* Cancellation within 30 days of departure = 100% loss

It is mandatory for all of our travelers to have Emergency Medical insurance that covers for both emergency evacuation and repatriation to the sum of $200,000 USD we also strongly recommend purchasing an all inclusive plan that covers cancellation/interruption insurance as well.
